Traditional Chinese Practical Fading Dimmer: Circuit Design, Parts List & Workshop Prototype Guide
In short: Traditional Chinese Practical Fading Dimmer. This entry documents a circuit & prototype taken from Chinese practical-technology literature, written for small-scale makers and home producers. The text below is the full English translation of the original Chinese workshop notes, covering materials and quantities, the step-by-step sequence, and the practical cautions recorded in the source. Roughly 3627 words of English technical text, translated and preserved without editing. It is intended for experimental and reference use, not for regulated or commercial certification.
fade-in/out dimmerThe dimmer shown in Figure 188 can not only dim the light, but also change the light from dark to bright every time the light is turned on; and gradually change from bright to dark when the light is turned off.How it works:The circuit principle is shown in Figure 188. The mains power is stepped down by C4, rectified by VD2 (1N4004), stabilized by VD1 and filtered by C1 to provide 12V working power. In the figure, the oscillator composed of VT3, VT4 (9011), etc. is used to excite the bidirectional thyristor VS, and its oscillation frequency is determined by the collector current of VT2 (3CG4). On the one hand, this current is controlled by RP2; on the other hand, it is controlled by the collector voltage of VT1 (3CG6).Figure 188When the switch S is closed, C2 starts to charge through R1, and the terminal voltage of C2 slowly rises, so VT1 gradually turns on and enters the amplification state. At the same time, its collector voltage gradually decreases, so that the base current of VT2 gradually increases, and the charging current of C3 also gradually increases, so the oscillation frequency of VT3 (3DJ6) gradually increases from low to high. Lamp H changes from dark to bright. …
